Santa Clara's Chapter of ACM – A Community for Students Passionate About Computer Science
As the Santa Clara University chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery, we strive to help our members develop real-world computer science skills and experiences, promote professional development through jobs and internships, and cultivate a tight-knit, collaborative community. We provide ACM members on campus with the opportunity to network with fellow engineers pursuing a career in the field of computer science and with those who have a passion for it.
Through our various workshops, events, and hackathons, our members develop strong problem-solving, teamwork, networking, and communication skills. They are provided with opportunities to explore different technologies, tools, and languages on a deeper level. Every summer and winter, we use sponsorship and Day of Giving funding to host competitions that challenge students to push the limits of what they are capable of and learn new things outside of the classroom. In February, we hosted the 11th Hack for Humanity, SCU’s biggest hackathon with over 250 participants across disciplines.
We plan to use the Day of Funding to host more off campus events such as company visits and socials, provide prizes and food at more events, and hopefully attend the ACM International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications next year!
