Below you will find answers to many common questions about 2024 Day of Giving.
What is Day of Giving?
Day of Giving is a 24-hour celebration of the Bronco spirit and the power of giving back starting at 12:01 am (PST) on April 10. Day of Giving is a special opportunity for the SCU community to come together and show support for their favorite departments, programs, student organizations, and teams. You choose where you want your gift to have an impact, and special challenges mean that your gift can go further and do more good than at any other time of the year.
How can I participate?
Anyone can get involved with SCU's Day of Giving! Simply by donating, you will make an impact. If you wish to be more involved, sign up to be an Ambassador.
To donate on April 10th, you can make your gift in a few ways:
1. Online at givingday.scu.edu (click Give Now), between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. PST.
2. By phone at (408)554-4400, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. PST.
If you need assistance making your gift, call (408).554-4400 between now and April 10th, or email us at giving@scu.edu.
If you would like to make your gift by check, it must arrive no later than April 10th. Write "Day of Giving" and the fund(s) you want to support in the memo section. Make your check payable to Santa Clara University, and mail it to:
Santa Clara University
Development Office
500 El Camino Real
Santa Clara, CA 95053-1400
How do challenge and matching gifts work?
Challenge gifts are funded by amazing donors who hope to inspire and motivate the Bronco community on the Day of Giving. These gifts will be awarded as certain milestones are reached throughout the Day of Giving (e.g. certain number of gifts by a certain time, matching gifts dollar-for-dollar during a period of time up to a designated amount, etc.).
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes, Santa Clara is 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (SCU’s Tax ID is: 94-1156617). You will receive an email confirmation as your receipt for tax purposes, and your gift may be eligible for tax-deduction based on your personal tax bracket and other circumstances.
My company offers matching gifts, can they count for Day of Giving?
Yes! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please click here. Matching gifts will count towards the Day of Giving total once they have been received.
Does my gift count toward my undergraduate reunion class campaign totals?
If you are in the undergraduate classes of 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, 2019 then YES. All gifts to all areas of campus made on Day of Giving will count towards your Reunion campaign.
Can I give more than once and to more than one cause?
Absolutely! Your impact will be much greater when you do! Want to do more? You can help your favorite cause reach its goal by sharing their page with your friends and family and on your social media!
