The University Library is a vibrant and vital center for learning, inspiring both intellectual pursuits and community engagement. We advance the University’s mission to educate engaged and accomplished citizens through our dynamic services and unique collections.
The Harrington Learning Commons and Orradre Library, opened in 2008, is a leading example of a 21st-century academic library. It’s sustainable, cozy, and completely connected. Our staff was honored with the national 2017 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award thanks to the work completed in recent years to transform our spaces and services to meet the needs of modern students.
We host regular programs, like Book of the Quarter and Literary Cuisine events, to engage the campus in scholarly dialogue. Recent events have included:

Viewings of the Presidential debates and election night, with a discussion moderated by a Political Science professor.

A Literary Cuisine luncheon featuring a talk about the history of hip-hop music and its influence on the musical Hamilton. Students entertained guests with a number from the musical.

A Book of the Quarter talk featuring Benjamin Parzybok, author of Sherwood Nation, a dystopian novel about a West Coast city facing drought and water rations.
