Help Bring the Students of SCU to the Beautiful Outdoors
Into the Wild is the zaniest group of nature-loving granola eaters, mountain summiteers, log-hoppers, and life enthusiasts in the Western United States. We are Santa Clara's completely student-run outdoor club with a mission to provide all Santa Clara University students with safe and accessible outdoor experiences that foster an appreciation for the natural world and a sense of community on campus. Annually, we lead almost 100 weekend excursions all across California and surrounding states, as well as five Adventure (orientation) Trips for incoming first-year students and five weeklong spring break trips. After pausing trips due to the pandemic, we realized how crucial our organization is to the Santa Clara campus community and the mental health of students. Since resuming trip operations, we have worked to grow the infrastructure of the organization to match the growing demand for Into the Wild trips.
We plan to use the Day of Giving funding to increase the capacity of our trips and ensure that we maintain both a safe and equitable environment for students who aspire to join Into the Wild on any excursion we lead.
