Supporting Student Veteran Efforts!
SCU has a rich military history dating back to the founding of the institution. During this time, SCU has played a pivotal role in providing a quality education for Veterans, whether it was those who served in World War I, II, Korea, Vietnam and the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, our student veterans include undergraduates and graduates in Law, Business, Engineering, Counseling, Education and Theology. These Veterans are returning from serving their country and are seeking the opportunity of a quality SCU education.
Today, SCU’s student veteran population is growing and during the 2023-24 academic year, we are at an all-time high in terms of both student veterans and military dependents. Our ongoing challenge is ensuring that Student Veterans have the financial support to make an SCU education a viable and realistic option. It is harder for student veterans to attend private schools due to the funding limitations of the Post-911 GI Bill. The Ahmanson Veteran Scholarship Initiative is vital in helping to enhance and provide additional means to support Student Veterans in their path toward success.
We have a growing and active Student Veterans of America (SVA) Chapter, as well as the Veterans Alumni group. We continue with the annual Veterans Alumni Breakfast during Grand Reunion that continues to grow each year. Due to the engagement of our student veterans, we are developing plans for the establishment of a dedicated space for Veterans, as well as continued leadership and career development.
SCU Student Veterans provide a valuable contribution to the SCU Community and have been successful students both inside and outside of the classroom. Your contribution will allow us to continue growing the level of support that we can provide to our Student Veterans to ensure their continued success as well as continued development. Your contributions can help us made a difference.
