Help us continue to support student research opportunities!
Olivia Hill, and Prof. Sarita Tamayo-Moraga, who attended and presented at the American Academy of Religions Western Regions Conference in March 2019, with the support of the department's gift fund
For the past several years, the faculty of the Department of Religious Studies has dedicated its gift funds to support student research opportunities. We have thus provided support for a number of students to attend conferences to present their research. Any gifts for the department will enable us to continue supporting our students in this manner.
“Without this small grant, Religious Studies major Olivia Hill could not have traveled with me to give a paper at the regional American Academy of Religion conference in Arizona. Olivia’s paper on the transformative pedagogy of the Imagine interfaith/belief floor linked to RSOC 9: Ways of Understanding Religion would not then have been heard by other scholars from across the West. This grant enabled her to pay for her flight and hotel, and gave her invaluable experience presenting and being part of a community of scholars.”
– Sarita Tamayo-Moraga, Religious Studies faculty
“Attending and speaking at the American Academy of Religion Western Regional Conference in the spring of 2019 was one of the highlights of my undergraduate career. Working alongside Dr. Tamayo-Moraga, we presented on the efforts to strengthen interfaith cooperation among first year students who are a part of the Imagine learning community. This incredible experience was only made possible through the generous funds provided by alumni.”
