Santa Clara University's Premier Economics Organization
The SCU Economics Student Association is a student organization dedicated to offering networking opportunities to economics majors and minors in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the Leavey School of Business. The association organizes informal and formal events and activities that are designed to help students build relationships with professors, alumni, potential employers, and each other.
During the 2021-2022 school year, ESA put on a series of events geared toward students. We held an Economics Alumni Panel, Resume Building Workshop, and an informational panel where students, alumni, and graduate students discussed their experiences outside of the classroom, in the workforce, or graduate school. We have recently held a Topgolf night with Stifel and a pizza social for majors and minors to meet each other in a casual environment. Finally, we host officer meetings as well as other opportunities for involvement.
We plan to use Day of Giving donations to help fund our Spring Quarter event with Terry Calvani, former Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission. His talk will be, "Has the era of 'antitrust applied Industrial Organization Economics' come to an end?--The Dismal Science & The New Progressives."
