The first $20K in gifts to the Black Excellence Scholarship Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar by The Matt Family (Liz Matt '21).
If 150 gifts are made to the Black Excellence Scholarship Fund, $20k will be donated by Joelle Lam '04.
Established in 2020, the goal of this scholarship fund is to help recruit, retain, and educate Black undergraduate students, to further diversify the Santa Clara campus community, and to catalyze systems that allow for greater solidarity with students of color. Through your generosity, the Black Excellence Scholarship Fund awarded its first recipient this past Fall.
"I am honored and grateful to be the recipient of the Black Excellence Scholarship Fund. Coming from a low-income family, I didn’t think I could afford to attend Santa Clara and initially looked for more affordable options. However, receiving the Black Excellence Scholarship played a massive role in my decision by helping to meet my financial need. For those who have supported me through this fund, Thank You! I will always be extremely grateful for your support which has enabled me to pursue an education at my dream school." — Ameha Teshome, '23
