Ensure student leaders with financial hardships are able to finish their education...
For a generation of Santa Clara University graduates, Father Richard Coz was as much a part of college life as classes, Broncos games and the iconic mission at the heart of the campus. Today, a scholarship in his name ensures that his legacy remains an integral part of the SCU community.
Over 11 years ago, alumni created a scholarship in the name of the beloved Jesuit. Since then, hundreds of Fr. Coz friends have joined in supporting current students in the name of Fr. Coz. Recently, the fund has crested the $1,800,000 mark and awarded its twenty-first scholarship, making it the most successful grassroots fundraising effort in the University's history.
This scholarship is special because the students applying have already demonstrated leadership on campus, which they detail in their application. Special consideration is given to those areas that Fr. Coz held dear to his heart. They will be juniors/seniors and are facing unforeseen financial hardship. Time after time, the recipients tell us that they would have had to leave SCU without this special opportunity. The Fr. Coz Scholarship also prioritizes giving the children of alumni one last chance to graduate as Broncos themselves!
While the scholarship started out as a way to honor one man and his incredible impact, it has grown to launch the futures of so many incredible Broncos.
