Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about 2018 DAY OF GIVING.

What is All In for SCU?

All In for SCU is our annual Day of Giving—an inspiring online fundraising event and Bronco rally on March 7, 2018. All gifts made on March 7, between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. PST, will count toward SCU's Day of Giving and winning the big challenges that make up the day.

Why give on March 7, 2018?

Your gift will go further on March 7 and have a bigger impact, thanks to generous Bronco supporters who have funded multiple challenges. Your gift to the campus unit or program you care about most can have a double impact. It will give a direct boost to your unit or program. And it can help your unit or program win a share of the day's challenges. Throughout the day, live leaderboards will show progress for the challenges, making it possible to follow along in real time.

Why is it important to be counted in on March 7?

SCU's annual Day of Giving is not a spectator sport. It's all about joining in and being counted. The more Bronco alumni, family, and friends who give, the more who will be inspired to follow. It's that simple. And that's why we call the day All in For SCU.

Are you experiencing an error on the donation page?

Please delete symbols such as # and &. For example, Apt #31. We have found that this "fixes" most of the processing problems. If your gift form still is not working, please feel free to call us directly at (408) 551-1622.

I made a gift to "Other" Fund, but didn't put a designation. Where will it go?

If you would like to designate it to a specific area of campus, please contact us at psalazar@scu.edu or (408) 551-1622 by March 7 at 5 p.m. PST. Otherwise, we will designate it to the Santa Clara Fund for your convenience. Thank you again for your gift!

What are the Day of Giving challenges?

Adding to the excitement and fun of the day, several special micro-challenges aimed at benefiting specific units or programs, or encouraging social media engagement, will be announced and activated during the day.

Want to fund a Day of Giving Challenge?

Thank you for your leadership! For more information, contact Natasha Pedroza at 408-551-7077 or npedroza@scu.edu.

Where does my gift go?

One hundred percent of your gift goes directly where you designate it: to your college, school, or department; to a program; to scholarships; or to Athletics—whatever matters most to you. And the hourly challenge funds? Colleges and units that win the hourly challenges will receive bonus funds that will support the college or unit annual fund.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

You will receive an email confirmation as your receipt for tax purposes and your gift is eligible for tax-deduction based on your personal tax bracket and circumstances.

How can I make sure my gift counts on SCU's Day of Giving?

On March 7, you can make your gift in one of two ways:

1. Online at givingday.scu.edu (click Give Now), between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. PST.

2. By phone at 408.554.4400, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. PST. In addition, any gifts made through the student call-center between February 22 and March 7 will be counted on the Day of Giving.

If you need assistance making your gift, call 408.554.4400 between now and March 7, or email us at psalazar@scu.edu.

If you would like to make your gift by check, it must arrive no later than March 6. Write "Day of Giving" and the fund(s) you want to support in the memo section. Make your check payable to Santa Clara University, and send it to:

Santa Clara University
Development Office
500 El Camino Real
Santa Clara, CA 95053-1400

Does my gift count toward my undergraduate reunion class campaign totals?

If you are in the undergraduate classes of 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, then YES. All gifts to all areas of campus made by classmates between November 1, 2017 and October 31, 2018 will be counted towards the 2018 reunion campaigns.

Does my gift count toward my annual giving?

Yes. If it is your first gift of the fiscal year (July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018), your donation on SCU's Day of Giving will count toward Santa Clara's annual giving participation rate, as well as toward your eligibility for recognition programs, such as the President’s Club and Loyal Broncos.

If you've already given this year, we thank you. We also encourage you to make another gift on SCU's Day of Giving, because only gifts made on March 8 will count toward the day's challenges. Most important, your gift will inspire others to give, too.

Besides giving, how can I help All In for SCU break records?

Let everyone know! Tell your friends, family, and networks that you’ve made a gift, and encourage them to give. Post on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #allinforSCU. Send an email. Make a call.

Better yet, sign up to be a Day of Giving Ambassador by clicking on the Ambassador tab at the top of this webpage. You'll have access to a personal dashboard with special social media tools that make it even easier to reach and share the excitement with your network. You can also track the impact of your messages, including the number of new gifts you've motivated.

However you choose to get the word out, you can make an enormous difference in the success of SCU's Day of Giving.

How can I follow the action? Where are the challenge winners displayed?

On March 7, follow the excitement on givingday.scu.edu. Click Challenges & Leaderboards to see the challenges and real-time results.

How can I get more information?

Email psalazar@scu.edu or call 408-554-4400.

How does counting for the challenges and leaderboards work?

Our team can and will make adjustments on the back end when we recognize "ballot-stuffing" occurring. Please do not make a large number of small gifts to a specific school, center or initiative. You will do more to support the areas you care most about by making your gift and then spreading the word to encourage others to join you!

Who took the photo being used as the beautiful main banner image?
