As a center of lifelong learning, the de Saisset Museum supports Santa Clara University's goal of educating the whole person and consistently facilitates discovery, experience, and inspiration through engaging objects of art and history, public programming, and integrated educational opportunities for students and the wider community.
“For over sixty years, in its role as a cultural institution and resource for the community, the de Saisset has helped audiences of all ages make connections between disciplines and across cultures and experiences. We focus on exhibitions and programs that generate dialogue around diversity, social justice, and the history of California..”
-Rebecca M. Schapp, Director
From student employees to course projects, Santa Clara University students are engaged directly with our permanent collection and are essential contributors to the quality programming and exhibitions offered by the de Saisset Museum.
Programs and events such as the annual College Night, Family Day, and the Artist Lecture Series bring the SCU and wider communities together. And with over 13,000 objects of art and history in our permanent collection, we house incredible resources for our students.
Founded in 1955, it is the only free museum of art and history in the South Bay, and is one of only three museums in Silicon Valley to hold accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums. Your support helps ensure that we can continue to deliver our quality programs and exhibitions at no cost to our visitors.
