On March 4th Go All in for CGLP!

“From internet and privacy law to climate and energy regulations to business transactions and international crimes, globalization now touches nearly every aspect of legal practice. For lawyers to effectively serve their clients, advance justice and the common good, and succeed in their careers, it is critical to have a working understanding of international legal issues in an increasingly interconnected world.” —Director of the Center for Global Law and Policy Tseming Yang

Santa Clara’s Center for Global Law & Policy (CGLP) trains students to meet the challenges of globalization for the practice of law and supports cutting-edge faculty research in international and comparative law to advance justice and the common good. With distinguished academic thought-leaders, a broad array of international and comparative law courses, and summer programs across four continents with externships in over 30 countries, CGLP offers the largest and one of the oldest international study abroad programs for US law students.  Through serving as peer mentors to our international law students right here on campus, exploring course offerings and overseas externship opportunities, our students develop professional lawyering skills, are immersed in international law and foreign legal cultures, and gain experiences and competencies that give them an edge in the job market and what they need to become 21st-century leaders.

Our faculty’s work informs important policy debates and influences pressing public issues, while instilling in the next generation of international lawyers a commitment to excellence, ethics, and social justice.  The result is a tremendous global network of legal experts that counts among them the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Mariana Islands, a former Commissioner on the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, a Legal Officer at the International Criminal Court in the Hague, and numerous attorneys in private practice in China, Germany, and other countries. They continue to support CGLP by mentoring current law students, guest lecturing, hosting students overseas, and making generous financial contributions.

On March 4th, train the global leaders of tomorrow, today through the Center for Global Law and Policy.
