Contribute to building a more humane, just, and sustainable world
Many campus organizations are working towards finding solutions to the world’s climate and justice issues. This year’s featured Sustainability Initiatives consists of the Center for Sustainability, the Environmental Justice & the Common Good Initiative, and tUrn Climate Crisis Awareness & Action project.
The Center for Sustainability advances academic and public understanding of the ways in which social justice and sustainability intersect by integrating principles of social, environmental, and economic sustainability into University life. Gifts to the three Center for Sustainability funds will enhance our operations and engagement programs, enabling us to pay students while they explore their career path and gain professional work experience; helping to propel SCU to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis; and strengthening our University community’s resilience, health, and culture of sustainability.
Additionally, the Environmental Justice & the Common Good Initiative promotes environmental justice research, teaching collaborations, and partnerships in the SCU community, with California institutions and community-based organizations, and across Jesuit higher education.
The tUrn Climate Crisis Awareness & Action project is an urgent invitation to everyone of all disciplines to stop what they are doing for one week every April and October, confront the climate crisis, and improve their capacity to contribute to just solutions.
