Contribute to Building a More Humane, Just, and Sustainable World
Gifts to the four Center for Sustainability funds – The Forge Garden, Climate Action, Campus Sustainability Change Makers, and new! Bucky’s Closet – will accelerate our ability to facilitate change management for sustainability at SCU by bridging academics, operations, and campus life to empower students, faculty, & staff to build a more humane, just, and sustainable world. In addition to the long-term changes already in progress around SCU, the Center for Sustainability continues to engage students through our events, fellowships, and the Forge Garden. Support our passionate students as they become sustainability change makers!
SCU is in the midst of implementing our multi-year sustainability strategic action plan Sustainable SCU: Leading Through Laudato Si’, which outlines bold goals and strategies orienting our efforts toward the common good and care for our common home. Five implementation teams and countless individuals are engaging in collective action as advocates, champions, and leaders to create sustainable change at SCU and in our communities.
Gifts to the Environmental Justice & the Common Good Initiative pay student research assistants to work with faculty members on collaborative research with community-based organizations and agencies in disadvantaged communities. The tUrn Climate Crisis Awareness & Action project hosts two annual week-long series of events that urge everyone of all disciplines to confront the climate crisis and improve their capacity to contribute to just solutions.
