Igwebuike

Santa Clara University's Black Student Union

Founded as the Black Student Union in 1967, but changing its name to Igwebuike in 1985 after a massive movement to create the MCC, this organization unites Black-identifying students across Santa Clara University through campus programming, community events, and social justice initiatives to celebrate all of the African Diaspora from continental Africa to here in the US. The word “Igwebuike” is Igbo for “In Unity There Is Strength.” This Unity is a major goal of Igwebuike today. Our vision is to enhance the university experience for our members through inspiration, influence, and impact and achieve this through community bonding and building, service, and discussion/education to grow and empower our members.

Our large events throughout the school year include Love Jones (quarterly talent show), Culture Show (annual showcase of pan-African culture), Igwe Formal (Annual Club Dance), Retreats (Club Bonding Experiences), and Bay Bash (annual South Bay BSU gathering and entrepreneurship fair). With your generous support, we can continue to host programs to support our members and foster community at SCU!
