Supporting Students at the Most Fundamental Level
WE ARE ACCEPTING CANNED FOOD ON APRIL 23, 9AM-5PM, OUTSIDE THE CELLAR MARKET (DOWNSTAIRS BENSON) AND CAMPUS MINISTRY. LOOK FOR OUR CONTAINERS.
The Basic Needs program is dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources to help students meet their fundamental needs. Through initiatives like the Bronco Pantry, donated gift cards, and access to external resources, the program ensures students have the support they need to be successful.
At the heart of this effort is the Bronco Pantry, which regularly stocks non-perishable food items and fresh produce in collaboration with the SCU Forge Garden. This allows students the flexibility to select items that align with their dietary preferences and immediate needs, promoting both dignity and choice.
Since its launch in Spring 2018, the program has supported over 400 students, significantly impacting their academic and personal well-being. This work reflects SCU’s Jesuit values of compassion and social justice, striving to create a more equitable campus environment.
Your support is crucial to sustaining and expanding the Basic Needs program. With your generosity, we can continue to serve our most vulnerable Broncos, addressing their immediate needs while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and empowered community.
“I’m working three part-time jobs to help support my family while pursuing my degree. My parents are struggling to make ends meet, so I also help pay rent and cover other household expenses. Balancing my jobs, school, and caring for my younger siblings leaves me with little time or energy to focus on my studies. Despite working long hours, the cost of living and tuition fees are overwhelming, and my income still isn't enough to cover everything. Access to the Bronco Pantry and gift cards would be appreciated. This support would relieve some of the financial pressure I’m facing, allowing me to dedicate more time and focus to my studies.”
