Mathematics & Computer Science Department

Support our student researchers!
Thank you for your support of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at SCU!
Your donation helps fund:
- The Rick Scott Memorial Scholar Program, which honors our dear colleague and his commitment to undergraduate research by supporting student researchers during the summer. This past summer, Professors Shamil Asgarli and Sara Krehbiel mentored Computer Science and Math double major Simon MacLean '26 in solving an open question about graph colorings.
- The Alexanderson-Panello Fund, which last summer supported six students conducting original research under the guidance of our talented faculty. They studied topics in social networks, error-correcting codes, password cracking, and measures of similarity in binary strings. The fund also supported student attendance at conferences.
- The general MATH/CS gift fund, which helps build community and collaboration in our department by supporting student groups and activities such as the Association for Women in Mathematics, the MATH/CS Society, the First-year math contest, Hack for Humanity and more.
Your continued involvement keeps these programs alive and enriches the experience of all 500 of our majors. Thank you!
