Support our volunteer EMTs to provide medical care on campus!
SCU Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is operated by a group of 30 Student-volunteers who are Nationally Certified and State Licensed EMT-Basics. The student-run medical care organization is dedicated to providing quality Basic Life Support (BLS) care, and responding to any medical emergency that occurs on university owned property after hours (5pm-8am everyday). Many of the students are working towards careers as firefighter-paramedics, physicians assistants, doctors, etc. As this is a volunteer opportunity, uniforms and EMS certification costs are paid directly by our students. With your funded assistance, SCU EMS will be able to provide necessary equipment for these EMTs to ensure a supported environment during medical emergencies.
In past years, donations have helped SCU EMS update older medical equipment, purchase new emergency response vehicles, fund uniforms free of cost to the EMTs, and digitize the medical documentation process. With the help of donations, student EMTs have been able to better focus on serving the SCU community without having to worry about the financial burden of becoming and remaining an EMT. SCU EMS serves a campus community of about 9,000 students, faculty, and staff. Since 1998, we have responded to over 4,700 medical calls. This past year, SCU EMS received over 200 medical calls with the majority of those medical emergencies occurring between 9pm and 3am.
