We appreciate your support, today, and every day.
The Ethnic Studies Department has the most diverse teaching faculty and staff on campus. With classes like Race and Mass Incarceration, Malcom & Martin, Black Girl Magic, Latinx/Chicanx Studies, and Asian American Studies, the department offers a critical foundation to understanding historical and contemporary formations of race and ethnicity. Through our interdisciplinary approaches, our students gain invaluable knowledge about different communities and their histories, their current realities, and their potential futures. Our courses encourage students to reflect on their own positionalities and inspire students to take action by promoting social justice.
When asked how their Ethnic Studies course fostered their sense of belonging on campus, a collective of major and non-majors responded in the following ways:
"It has made me feel seen and supported."
"The professor is one of the most inviting and welcoming professors I have ever had."
"I have challenged my internal biases and am working on being a better ally."
"The Ethnic Studies Department has felt like home on campus."
"I found people with the same values and beliefs as mine."
"Class was a safe space where people would freely voice opinions."
"I felt connected to my classmates."
Your gift to the Ethnic Studies Department means so much to us and ensures that students continue to experience critical and transformative experiences in and out of the classroom.
Thank you for your support!
