Military Science Program

Support the Bronco Battalion this Day of Giving!

SCU’s Military Science Program transforms students into leaders capable of taking on the toughest challenges with ingenuity and good character. Through generous donations, SCU Military Science is able to provide its dedicated students with unforgettable opportunities. The Day of Giving funds traditional and ceremonial events like Military Balls, Staff Rides, and Commissioning.

With the funds raised from last year’s Day of Giving, we were able to send our senior class abroad for their Staff Ride for the first time in years. Staff Rides are extensive battle analyses. The senior class chose to study the Battle of the Bulge. After much research, they were able to present what they learned with one another on the grounds where the historic battle occurred. Reading about these historic battles is one thing, but being in the space where is an entirely different experience. It took their learning to greater depths and allowed us them honor the sacrifices of those who fought. We hope to continue providing students with these opportunities and greatly appreciate your support!

The Mardasson Memorial near Bastogne, Belgium honors the sacrifices of the more than 75,000 U.S. Soldiers who were wounded or killed during the Battle of the Bulge.

Dawson Rogers was able to visit a memorial honoring his grandfather’s unit: the 551st Parachute Infantry Battalion. On 07 January 1945, the remaining 250 members of the Battalion were ordered to attack the Belgian village of Rochelinval over open ground and without artillery support. The unit lost more than half its men, but the assault was a success. Rogers’ grandfather was among the survivors.
